To help members of the industry better understand sustainable tourism and help companies improve their current business models, the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) has partnered with Switzerland Tourism to produce a series of sustainability reports in adventure tourism. The five reports offer insight and practical advice for industry players looking to take conscious action to implement more sustainable practices. The goal of these reports is to provide an accessible resource that is valuable to companies of all sizes and at all stages of their sustainability journey.
Determine your baseline
The first step towards improving sustainability is to assess current practices. Report by ATTA and Switzerland Tourism “High Moments, Low Impact: Rethinking Adventure Travel’s Sustainability Efforts” took advantage of the shutdown in tourism as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic to examine the state of sustainability practices in adventure tourism so far.

To better understand how the components of adventure travel events can be made more sustainable, Switzerland Tourism and ATTA have partnered with the aim of making the annual event of ATTA signatories, Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS), to be held in Lugano, Switzerland in 2022, the most sustainable ATWS to date. .
