Summer is here, and so is a new batch of miles and points promotions that can boost your balance and put you on the right track to holiday paradise. From discounted travel itineraries to extra points when you stay at your favorite hotel brands, here are nine summer deals worth exploring.
Earn cash back and other perks
Many credit cards offer special promotions with different retailers when using your card, but you’ll need to log in to your account first to activate them. Until August 3, there’s an Amex offer if you spend $750 at any Four Seasons, you will get $150 cash back. Chase Offers offers a similar cashback benefit with Marriott brands such as Le Méridien and Renaissance. Spend at least $100 and get 10% back in credit (up to $75). Not all accounts may be targeted for the same offer, but it’s worth checking out what you have.
Hilton Honors members can earn $25 Lyft credit after their next stay as long as they have linked their Hilton and Lyft accounts.
Fly from the West Coast to Taipei in Business Class
China Airlines is making plenty of business class award space available for the second half of the year for at least two people between Los Angeles area and taipei. Remember that you can redeem 90,000 Flying Blue points on China Airlines each way (although we are a Delta partner, we do not recommend using SkyMiles for this redemption as it is often very expensive). There is a 25% transfer bonus from Citi ThankYou to Flying Blue until June 17.
Book a flight to Amsterdam for less than 50,000 business class miles
A great deal on KLM business class flight swaps is also on the way for the summer. There are up to four seats available on many North American routes for amsterdam. This includes flights from Montreal and Toronto, which are both on the list for Flying Blue promotional rewards this month. These benefit from a mileage reduction, which reduces the redemption cost to 41,250 points. There are also 25% discounts for economy class redemptions in many cities like Austin, Detroit and New York. KLM partner Virgin Atlantic charges just 48,500 points per journey for business class, and you can add more points to your account with a 30% Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer bonus until June 15. If you’d rather use American Express Membership Rewards points, there’s a 30% transfer bonus that ends June 14. It is also possible to redeem Delta miles for these flights, but you will pay an exorbitant amount of points.
Redeem a single point for these Marriott Bonvoy Moments
Don’t have a ton of Marriott points? Don’t worry! This summer Marriott Bonvoy makes several of its experience-based trades available for a single point. The offer covers a limited number of experiences, so you’ll need to act fast. The super cheap, yet super fun buyouts will be posted throughout the month on the Marriott Bonvoy Instagram account. Some of the first include having a hot seat chat with The hottest host Sean Evans or attend a private tasting of Dos Hombres’ latest unreleased mezcal varietal with company founders Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston. Other exchanges available for a single point include hanging out with American women’s soccer star Trinity Rodman or discussing true crime mysteries with Crime Junkie podcasters Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat.
Stay at new hotels and earn additional rewards
Hilton Honors offers 1,000 bonus points in new hotels, and in many of them you can earn 5,000 points if you stay at least three nights. It is in addition to summer promotion to earn 2,000 bonus points per stay and 4,000 points on resort stays. World of Hyatt is offering a similar offer for guests staying at its newest hotels in allocation of 500 bonus points after their departure. You will earn the bonus by staying within a certain amount of time, which varies by property.
Earn even more hotel points
IHG One Rewards Fair launched its summer promotion, awarding 2,000 points for every two-night stay by the end of August. There’s another offer that gives out 10,000 points for four nights spent during this period (there’s no limit to how many you can earn). You will need to choose the promotion that best suits your travel plans. If you have at least four hotel nights planned for this summer, choose the second option. It’s a great way to earn lots of extra points for vacation, especially if you often stay in hotels for work. Remember to register before your stay.
