New Hampshire is definitely home to certain wild creatures. Bears, moose, reindeer and an old stone man. But in 2022, the Granite State added another to its list of unusual wildlife: barrel-throwing gorillas.
Luckily for the citizens of New Hampshire, it’s painted on the side of a wall. Unfortunately for a certain plumber, he stole his beloved.
In 2022, a new mural was unveiled in Concord, hidden behind an apartment building in the middle of town. The fresco itself is not easily accessible. Visitors have to sneak behind a café, cross a parking lot and enter a small alley.
The mural transforms the ordinary apartment elevator shaft into a level of the classic Donkey Kong arcade game.
The mural was painted in 2022 by artists Manny Ramirez, Cecilia Ulibarri and Christian Ramirez. As founders of Positive Street Art (a non-profit organization based in New Hampshire), the trio aim to uplift and delight communities with their fun and inspirational murals.
The Donkey Kong mural has been embraced by the community and is a favorite insider reference for Concord locals.
